BeatSmash -  A difficult rhythm game inspired by the likes of Flash Flash Revolution and Thumper.   Dash through fantastical landscapes as you dodge, weave and smash to the beat.  But watch out... one wrong move can spell death!   Can you beat the second level?

I hope you enjoy, and I'd love to hear what you think.

DEVLOG:

Mon Jan 9th 2023:

Patch 1.1 is live!

- More Savepoints: At popular request one savepoint has been added to Level 2: after the series of triplet arrows and before the ship/green tunnel.  One additional savepoint also been added to level 1 (about 1/4 point into the song),

- Smoothed out movement.  Camera and player no longer snap left/right, but have an extra frame added as transition.

- Minor changes: view angle has been lowered a bit and camera height raised, to make arrows on second level easier to read.  Some notes have been shifted around and arrow hitbox increased  to account for new intermediate movement frames.

Sat Jan 6th 2023:

BeatSmash just surpassed 150+ plays & DL within 2 days, which exceeded my wildest expectations. Thank you for playing! I received some great feedback.  I'm taking a short break, but I will be back to update the game to make it better.

Stay tuned, and thank you for your support.

Looks and plays well, but man does this feel too easy...

Thanks for playing James!  It's funny, cause tons of players complained its too hard and frustrating (esp on 2nd level), so I added more savepoints.  Maybe my next game will have a difficulty toggle.  Or perhaps you're just above the curve lol.

It's probably a difficulty curve situation. I'm a rock band unplugged and Tetris addict...

Also, yeah, I think a difficulty toggle could do nicely here.

True, good idea.   Difficulty curve could indeed be tweaked, although with only 2 levels I had to start easy and couldn't ramp too far without major spikes.  Will have more levels and difficulty toggles in future games.  Thanks for your feedback!

(Also, Rock band and Tetris are awesome games.  Would make this game seem easy lol.)

Really great demo. I enjoyed playing.

Thank you for playing Alexanda!
